What Are Soul Ties?
Soul ties are spiritual, emotional, and physical bonds connecting you to people, places, or things. Genesis 2:24 describes this: "the two shall become one flesh." While God designed certain soul ties for good—marriage, parent-child bonds, godly friendships (1 Samuel 18:1) - not all soul ties are healthy.
Godly Soul Ties: Biblical marriage, parent-child relationships, spiritual mentorship, God-honoring friendships
Ungodly Soul Ties: Sexual immorality, abusive/manipulative relationships, trauma bonding, occult practices, unhealthy dependency, unforgiveness.
The Danger of Ungodly Soul Ties
Ungodly soul ties act like spiritual pipelines, allowing demonic influence and destructive patterns into your life long after relationships end. They:
How Soul Ties Form
Sexual Intimacy – "He who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body" (1 Corinthians 6:16). Every sexual encounter creates a soul tie, which is why God reserved sex for marriage.
Trauma and Abuse – Shared suffering creates powerful bonds. Victims often remain emotionally connected to abusers long after the abuse ends.
Covenant Agreements – Wedding vows, blood covenants, occult rituals, business partnerships with ungodly people, and secret society oaths all create binding soul ties.
Emotional Entanglement – Prolonged codependency, enmeshment, and relationships with manipulative or controlling individuals forge unhealthy ties.
False Spiritual Authority – Submitting to cult leaders, false prophets, psychics, or spiritually abusive pastors creates demonic soul ties allowing spiritual control from a distance.

How to Break Free
Step 1: Identify the Soul Ties
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal ungodly connections - past sexual partners, abusive relationships, false spiritual leaders, people you haven't forgiven.
Step 2: Repent
"Father, I confess ungodly soul ties with [name]. I repent and ask Your forgiveness. These connections weren't Your will."
Step 3: Renounce the Soul Tie
"In Jesus' name, I renounce and break every ungodly soul tie with [name]. I sever this connection - spirit, soul, and body. I am FREE!"
Step 4: Forgive
"Father, I forgive [name] for [what they did]. I release them and will not carry bitterness. I am free to move forward."
Step 5: Remove Physical Reminders
Destroy objects tied to ungodly relationships - gifts, photos, letters, jewelry. Don't donate them; destroy them completely.
Step 6: Close the Door
"I command every demon that entered through [name] to LEAVE in Jesus' name. I close every door opened through sin and seal it with Jesus' blood. GET OUT!"
Step 7: Fill the Void
"Holy Spirit, fill every void left by broken soul ties. Replace brokenness with wholeness, bondage with freedom. I belong to You alone."
Step 8: Walk in Freedom
Protect your freedom by avoiding toxic people, setting boundaries (Proverbs 4:23), staying rooted in God's Word, and quickly repenting if you slip.
Biblical Foundation
Your Freedom Starts Today
Jesus came to set captives free (Luke 4:18) - including you. Breaking ungodly soul ties reclaims your identity as God's child, free from every chain. You don't have to carry your past into your future or live drained by people God removed from your life.
Today is your day of freedom. Pray the prayers. Sever the ties. Walk away from what holds you back. Watch God restore what the enemy stole.
You're not defined by past relationships or bound by mistakes. You are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old has passed away.
It's time to break free.
